Microsoft announced on October 28 that the Microsoft Copilot harness, the agent loop behind GitHub Copilot and Copilot Studio, is in public preview in Foundry Agent Service. Microsoft runs the agent loop and sandbox, and you bring instructions, reusable skills, Foundry and MCP tools with configured authentication and approvals, and a supported Foundry model. Agents can work with files and code, hand bounded tasks to built-in subagents, and keep their definitions in source control. You can set one up through the Foundry portal, azd, Foundry Toolkit for VS Code, or the GitHub Copilot app. Long-running resilience for hosted agents is also generally available. The harness runtime is free until December 1, 2026. After that, sandbox compute is $0.0994 per vCPU-hour and memory is $0.0118 per GiB-hour, with model inference and other tools billed separately.
