Google DeepMind announced Genie 4 on October 27. It's a world model for real-time interactive simulation that generates audio natively, including ambient sound, music, and interactive dialogue. You can change a running simulation with natural language, such as altering the weather, moving the camera, or adding a person or object. Gemini 3.8 Flash acts as a guiding agent in the loop, breaking goals into steps and checking incoming frames to verify each step. DeepMind also showed Gemini 4 Argon working with Genie 4 to simulate a humanoid robot playing checkers, and it pitches Genie 4 for uses including training environments for robots and agents. For now it's a research preview for trusted testers. It's coming soon to Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and to early access partners in the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. DeepMind says it's still early and experimental, with details that can drift in longer sessions, and all its video and audio carries SynthID watermarks.
